Project Responsibilities
MacKay and Somps was commissioned to be the design engineer for RD17ís levee seepage repair project. This included the preparation of approximately 30 sets of improvement plans divided into construction phases. In addition MacKay and Somps served as the project surveyor, providing boundary and easement research and plotting as well as construction staking and construction support.
Project Description
RD17 manages over 17 miles of levees with San Joaquin County, of which they are upgrading nearly 10 miles of levees to address under-seepage and through-seepage. Various alternatives are being utilized including seepage berms, chimney drains, cut-off walls, soil-cement-bentonite slurry walls and setback levees.
Regulatory Agencies
In order to obtain plan approval, the RD17 team has coordinated and processed with the US Army Corps of Engineers, the Department of Water Resourses, the Central Valley Flood Protection Board, and FEMA.
